A Capacity Assessment refers to a legal assessment of a person’s ability to understand information that is relevant to making a decision and his/her ability to appreciate the reasonably foreseeable consequences of a decision or a lack of decision regarding property (finances) and/or any of the 6 domains of personal care (health care, nutrition, shelter, clothing, hygiene or safety).  Formal legal assessments are required under the Substitute Decisions Act (SDA, 1992).  For more information, please contact Melissa Prevost at 705-792-0037 or melissap@solutionsrehab.ca.
